Hashtags. To do or not to do. That is the question.
The short answer is yes. And the long answer is yes.
Hashtags are a great way for people to find your page; your products and services.
They are mostly used on the social media platforms Twitter and Instagram. Instagram allows up to 30 hashtags to be used per post.
They should be relevant to your post, and/or your business. For example, if you are posting about your day at the zoo. Your hashtags could be #zoo, #wildanimals, #phoenixzoo, etc. People do search for products, services, companies via hashtags so be sure that you are using them.
While 30 are allowed, you do not have to use all 30 for each post. Some people choose to use 1 that may be the name of their business or their tag line or they may establish their own hashtag. Others use all 30. And yet others use less than that, maybe 10 at a time.
It is a good idea to research what hashtags are popular in your niche, or your industry. Meaning, what are the most searched for hashtags? There are apps that you can download that will help you identify which hashtags are most popular for your topic. Some of these apps are TagBlender, Hashtagger, InstagramTags, Seekmetrics, and many more!
Either way, remember to keep a few things in mind when using hashtags:
1. Make sure your hashtags are related to your post or your business.
2. Use them!
3. Do your research.
4. Don't overdo them.
5. Don't use hashtags on Facebook. Just don't.
